Jason got sick when we were in Utah a week ago, and he doesn't get sick too often, but this one was a real doozer... he has been sick enough that he wasn't able to go to work all last week, and I took him to the doctor on Thursday - they said he had croup and that it was very contagious and we needed to stay out of public until today... they also sent him home with some meds and told him to rest. Well, that was working relatively well until Saturday afternoon when he took a turn for the worst. His dad came over with Gary to give him a blessing and after talking to him about what he was feeling, decided that he probably should go to the ER. We called the nurse hot line to get their advise and they agreed that he needed to go in ASAP and said that it would be best to call an ambulance to get him there because if we drove him they would take longer to see him. So we did that - saw the flashy lights and the nice people all came in to help. My parents took Lucy home for the night (she did awesome on her first sleep over) and I went to the hospital with Jason. K... here is the ironic thing... and at this point the only thing we can do about it is laugh... but... when they got Jase to the hospital... they got him out of the ambulance and into a wheelchair, and then brought him out to the waiting room... where he sat for about 45 minutes. so much for the ride in the ambulance... just a big bill that didn't do anything to get him seen faster - pretty funny though!
They had been afraid that he might have meningitis, but after some testing they decided that he has bronchitis and a severe sinus infection. They changed his meds and sent him home with well wishes to get better soon.
While we were there though, there was no lack of entertainment... several guys were brought in that had been in fights... and one in particular was still fighting everything... kinda made me laugh.. he was brought in by 2 fire department guys, 2 EMTs and then there were the two security people from the hospital, and a doctor and a nurse (count that... 8 people)... when they tried to move him from the gurney to the bed, he tried to get up and fight them... at which point they had to pretty much tackle him back down, then strap him in to the bed... give him a shot to knock him out... then do all of his tests. We heard all kinds of yelling, and one of the fire guys yelling at him that "it's not going to go down this way man..." ahhh... better than the movies!!
