My friend Allison went to the zoo with Lucy and me yesterday - it was a little cold when we first got there, but warmed up nicely - when you were in the sun it was really pleasant! I would much rather be a little cold than totally hot anyway, so in my opinion it was pretty perfect! Allison was in charge of pictures since I am really bad at remembering to take them... as you can see, she was much better at it! Some cute things to look for in the pictures - the baby giraffe - it is HUGE, but next to its mom, it really looks tiny! The lion pride - they were really cool to watch!! The bottoms... for some strange reason, we kept getting really good views of all the animal's backsides... most of them were too cute, so we had to at least get a few pictures! The apes in the monkey house were so fun to watch... there are lots of them in their as families... see if you can figure them out :) There is a really cute picture of a wallaby - Lucy kissed it on the nose!!! Lucy also thought the peacock was fun to watch... and chase... she just wanted to say "hi" - I promise!!!
Lucy has so much fun feeding the giraffes... this one was especially funny with the tongue... we were crackin up for a long time!
I have never seen the porcupines out at the zoo... till yesterday - and this one was a hoot to watch... it was just dancing back and forth... the whole time were were standing there - like 5 minutes - it just never stopped! Allison thought it was pretty funny... as you can tell from her video! Also - just as a side note... porcupines really stink!!! talk about a funky body odor!
this is the baby orangutan - he was born on Feb 19, 2009 and was just tiny! soooo cute! We learned that he will be on his mom 24/7 for the first 6 months - she will not ever put him down. Isn't that cool? we liked how the little guy was just holding on to her so tight!
